Very exciting! Lyra has been cast, acted by Dakota Blue Richards (she's British not American whatever her name sounds like), age 12. No pictures of her exist at all on the internet, she's completely new as far as films are concerned. Filming starts on September 4th! I just really hope she can act...

are they doing them seperately or as one? hope they are togehter although that will be loooooong, dont want to have to wait for will though! he is one of my favourite characters

Nope, separately I'm afraid - which I think is a good thing as otherwise the story would have to be ridiculously compressed. What's annoying me though is that they're calling the first one "The Golden Compass" like it's called in America, not "Northern Lights".

the books are brill but that is down right stupid! was the author american as that is maybe why they ahve done that, why oh why did they need to change the title of the book in the first place!

Possibly they might release it with separate titles in America and Britain, like the Harry Potter Philosopher / Sorcerer thing, I don't know... I'm fairly sure Philip Pullman is British, but the film's being American-made; though they are at least using British children to act it.
