For sleepy villages in the Yorkshire countryside, the villages of Midsomer have their fair share of serious crimes. Perhaps this is why Yorkshire has the highest crime rate in England? To say the episodes last for two hours, and the body count is normally around four or five, that must be abnormal for five villages. Viewers are amazed that there are any villagers left considering how many bodies Tom Barnaby has to deal with, and we also wonder why anyone would want to live there when the chances of being murdered are pretty high. However, Tom does a good job, and is helped along the way by his Sergeants, firstly Troy, and latterly Scott. Amongst his busy schedue, he also has time to attend village church services, fetes and spend quality time with his wife, Joyce and daughter, Cully.
