ok, this is my first attempt at a story on this site, its about a girl called Emma who lives in a care home for disabled children in Orlando valley, America. She has Ostemyelitis which is a infection that if not spotted quickly can lead to long term deformitiy of the limbs which is what Emma has....... 'Well, So much for me, I still haven't got to go to the most amazing festival of lights in America,' Emma sighed heavily as she flicked through a small pink leather bound book. in it she drawn very elaborate pictures of what she believed the festival to be like. She could hear the cheers and laughter from the street below. she hauled herself upright and staggered over the the window on her cruthes. she threw herself down on the window seat. "You stupid legs!!" she shouted into the air through her tears of anger, "Its all yout fault! if it werent for you I could be out there!" she picked up the small book again, and began to write, ‘Its me again, I’ve decided it is worth writing this book after all, that way I might at least stand a chance of being adopted although standing probably isn’t the right word. I’m going to start from the beginning. My name is Emma, I’m Ten. I had Oseomyilitis when I was a baby This means my Legs are still poorly now. When the doctors found out what was wrong with me my Mummy said she couldn’t look after me anymore. Which is why I live In Orlando Valley Care House. The only things I don’t really like are Strange doctors.’ Emma smiled slightly and shut the book tightly. She looked back at the lights walking along in the street below. If she couldn’t Be down their then maybe she could be with a family. after all, having some family is better than having none at all. isnt it? plz tell me if this is borin! coz this is my first storie that isnt fanfic!

Emma groaned as she lay flat on her back. her doctor pressing down hard on her legs moving them this way and that. As this was happening she saw her social worker Alice take up the small pink book. Emma wanted to scream! this book had become more to her than just a 'please adopt me' passage it had become someone to confide in. someone who would always be there and never walk out on her. After all. almost everyone else had, she could still remeber the day her mum had given up on her. The day her first major operation had failed. her mum had brought Alice to see her. and then when she left hospital. she hadn't left with her mum.she had never gone back to what she had always called home. she remebered first driving down 7th avenue to the care home. the leaves billowing around the car. Emma broke off from remebering. it was too painful. too secret, personal. "No! get off Alice! GET OFF! its my book! you should never touch it!!" By now Emma had struggled to her feet. "but Emma!? its to help you get a family!" "No- i-i."everything began to spin. she could hear people calling her name see them spinning in front of her.Emma crumpled on the floor.....
more soon! ;D

Emma woke up suddenly. blurs were standing over her sweating body. She sat up. she was panting. Alice and the doctor were standing over her. "Wh-what-happ-ened?" she mumbled scared things would spin again. "Emma? its ok sweetie. your legs collasped underneath you. because you tried to stand without your crutches or leg supports so you couldn't stand. you should know this stuff by now." the doctor placed her head on Emma's head. she squirmed and pushed the hand away from her. "hmm, shes got a temperature, could have a slight fever." "I'm fine! can I have my book back now!" Alice handed it back. her smile gave away the fact she had got what she wanted from it. Emma slumped back onto her pillows. Alice and the doctor left the room mummering. Emma wasn't worried she was used to small conversations going on, ones that she knew involved her but she wasn't to hear them. the door opened again. it was Cleo. Emma's best and only friend in the whole world. Emma's face lit up. Cleo ran across to emma's bed. "You went! you saw!" Emma squealed with excitment. "You went to the lights of America festival! what was it like! tell me everything! you must." Cleo squealed back in delight, "It was amazing Emma! the lights! the smells! everything was just incredible!" Emma continued to smile back. and then she stopped. "I'm sure you'll be able to go next year. and will be just as great." Emma nodded. she rolled over as Cleo left the room. she began scribbling frantically, skecthes of the lights and then her school. for that would be where her next surprise lay....
hope this is ok! ;D

Emma and Cleo scrambled out of car at school the next morning. They headed off desperate to escape Alice. “Oi! You two come back.” “Why should we?” Cleo asked defiantly. “Because you two have to go to the principle’s office this morning!” Emma felt the bottom fall out of her stomach. Why? Why did they have to go there. Emma couldn’t speak. Her hands began sweating on her crutches. ”Why?” Cleo asked again. “Surely you two knew that Mrs. Bryson was leaving?” The two looked at each other in shock. Their principle had left!? Just like that? What would happen to them? They knew how lucky they were to even be at this school! And with her gone, who knew what would happen to them. Would they have to go to the special school with everyone else from the house? This couldn’t happen to them! Their school was the only normal part of their life!
The two sat, silently shaking. They didn’t look at each other. They didn’t speak. The office was completely different now. Before it had seemed cosy, Welcoming to all students. Now, it seemed very bare. There were blank squares on the wall’s were Mrs. Bryson’s pictures and photos had been. They heard footsteps. Not like Mrs. Bryson’s she had sort of shuffled. These ones sounded like heels striding along the corridors. The door swung back. The new principle entered. She was a lot younger than Emma had imagined, “Hello girls, I’m Mrs. Griffin, you’re new head teacher.” “Head teacher?” Cleo asked confused, “I thought you were the principle?” Mrs. Griffin sat down behind her desk. “Oh, yes, sorry. I am.” “Then why did you say that you were…” Cleo’s voice trailed off confused. Emma forced herself to speak for the first time, “It’s the same thing Cleo. Head-teacher is the English word for Principle.” Emma turned to look properly at this woman for the first time; she wore quite a lot of make-up, and a suit. Her hair was light brown yet it was obviously dyed Emma thought to herself. She had become an expert on hair colour from Alice. Who was always changing her hair. “You’re English aren’t you?” “Yes. And you’re… Emma. Is that right?” “Yep.” “And you’re Cleo?” Cleo nodded. “Well then girls, I just wanted to meet you. I have been told all about you’re… Illnesses by your Social worker. Thank you. You can go now.” Emma hauled herself onto her crutches again and left the room. As she closed the door after Cleo, she heard the phone ring, she knew she shouldn’t of but she couldn’t help but listen. She heard Mrs. Griffin answer the phone; “Hello?........hi!..............yes I’m here now……………well, its not what I expected, I’ve just meet the two girls with disabilities.” Emma craned her neck to hear. “Well, it went better than I thought,………..how are you?.........thanks…….yeah, speak to you soon, …yes, ok…….bye!” The phone was put down and Emma stumbled to get moving, she could hear the tapping heels moving. The door opened. Emma dodged quickly. She sighed heavily as Mrs. Griffin strode off, not noticing her.

Ooh! This is really good - keep it coming! :-) What disability does Cleo have? Is the same as Emma's? Or do we find out later and should I just be patient...

Cleo has a shunt up her back to her brain due to damaged nerves (this doesnt really become realavent for some time yet)
Six weeks had passed since the festival and the arrival of Mrs. Griffin. nothing really specatular had changed or happened. Cleo sat nervous opposite Alice in her office. Cloe hated sitting in front of people waiting to be judged as it were. she watched as Alice shuffled the papers on her desk. "Will you please tell me whatever youre going to coz this is awful!" Alice gave Cleo a stern look and then said, "Cleo, we have found you a couple who would like to adopt you." Cleo's face lit up. "You can meet them tomorrow and, wth any luck you could be living with them in about two months time." Cleo bounced up and flew out of the room.
out in the corridor Emma was also waiting. the grand oak door swung open as Cleo rushed out, "Emma! Emma! im going to be adopted!! inally i get to leave this place!" Cleo gave Emma a hug an then ran Emma. Emma couldn't refrain from hoping and praying that she would be adopted for someone to actually chosen her! maybe thats why she was waiting. just maybe......

Cleo however, was not the only one with plenty of expectations and prayers. on the other side of the Valley, Mrs. Louise Griffin also had alot to think about. she walked slowly along the footpath. Snow was still clinging on tightly to the edges of the track. she leant over a gate. several fields away, she could see the sea. leading over to england. leading home. She remebered her conversation with her sister the previous evening; "I know here is a reason for us coming here. but its not for my job. and its not anything to do with robert's promotion. but how can i tell him ive been here a few weeks and already i hate it. its not the school. not the pupils. I dont know. its just not home." She had always known that having a husband in the armed forces wouldn't be easy, but still why did she feel so lost?
Emma sat still and in silent pray as Alice re-entered the room. she sat down behind her desk. it seemed to Emma that she spent her life in front of loads of people behind their desks, but that didn't matter now. "now, Emma. I need you to be very brave." Emma sat up blot right. "Yes?" "We, we still haven't been able to find a suitable family for you." "What!? what do you mean by suitable!?" "I mean one that would be able to cope with your... problems." "In other words no wants me." Emma was full to the brim with resent. All that was wrong was her legs were slightly bent. there was nothing wrong with her she wasnt any different from anyone else. so why did no one care for her. and now she would be alone. with out even Cleo! but alice had not finished; "But. the social do not want you to get to settled in one place. so, if we do not get any possible parents within the next 9 months then you will have to be transferred to the care home in Calafornia." "What? Clalfornia! thats three states away!" Emma grabbed her crutches and hauled herself from the room.
Mrs. griffin was dreading the moment she had been waiting for all day. her husband banged the door as he arrived home. "Hello!" he called Merrily. she bit her lip. and then went to greet him. "Hi! um, can I talk to you a minute?" "Yeah sure. whats up?" she threw herself down next to him on the sofa. "Do you know how long this promotion of yours is going to take before we can move on." "Well, its not definate. you know that. why? your not longing for change already are you?" "No, yes! no. I dont know. but this isnt england. theirs nothing wrong with the school. but, everything is so different here. i miss my family. I miss england. and so does Petra. she keeps asking about when were going back to far away home." "It just takes some getting used to. and as for Petra, shes only three. she'll get used to it." "thats easy for you to say," she sighed in exhaustion, "Your americian, this is all so easy for you," "well, I know, but this is what it was like for me in England. Think about it, your like Chris columbus. discovering America. so, all you have to do, is conquer America." they smiled. he hugged her tight. mybe thats all it is. she thought. after all he got through it. so must I. after all, everyone has something they must conquer....
luv comments! ;D

It's really good so far. You're dialogue has really matured since you first posted any fan fic on TR site and is continuing to improve. I cannot wait for a new installment.
